Electrocoating
or E-coating is a process in which a metal is submerged in a
water-based solution containing a paint emulsion, following which an
electric voltage is applied to the metal enabling the paint emulsion
to abridge on top of the part. The metal part can be painted both
inside and out, wherever the liquid is able to reach a metal surface.
As areas of high voltage build a coating, they take the form of
insulators, thus allowing the lower voltage areas to build up. The
interior of the metal part is then coated as the exterior part is
completely insulated by the coating.
